We kind of get some of Edie's story in this one, but it seems like her story is mostly just about Sven and her family history. It seems so odd that you would carry a house across the sea in a boat, and even weirder that you would rebuild your home only a little bit away from the place where Odin died. The start to the new Finch home, while tragic at first, quickly became so happy and wonderful, like they were ready to make their new life, full of hope and possibilities. Maybe it's the original house that carried the curse. Maybe if the new house was build further away it would have been fine.
