Office Isn’t Licensed Properly – Cannot Verify License in Office 2021/2019/2016 [Solution]

If you installed Microsoft Office 2019 or Office 2016 with a legit Office license and you receive the error "Office isn't licensed properly and you might be a victim of software counterfeiting. Stay Safe with genuine Office today", continue below to fix the issue.

The Office messages/errors "Cannot Verify License" & "Office isn't licensed properly and you might be a victim of software counterfeiting", commonly appears on computers without a legitimate Office License, or with a Office license obtained from a third-party seller and not Microsoft.

Issues addressed in this tutorial:
Office isn’t licensed properly
Office isn't licensed properly
Office isn't licensed properly and you might be a victim
Office isn't licensed properly message
remove Office isn't licensed properly
why is my Office unlicensed
Office not recognizing license
Office shows as unlicensed
Microsoft Office not recognizing license
Office isn’t licensed properly disclaimer
Office isn’t licensed properly error
Office isn’t licensed properly every time
Office isn’t licensed properly elsewhere

Hmmm, of course I have a license! The product key was valid and it had activated fine over the Internet when I first installed it, so I wasn’t sure exactly why I was getting this error. Anyway, after playing around with a couple of possible solutions, it’s now running without the error message popping up. In this tutorial, I’ll list out the various steps I tried to solve the issue and hopefully it will work for you.

This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops, and tablets running the Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems (Home, Professional, Enterprise, Education) from all supported hardware manufactures, like Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Lenovo, Alienware, Razer, MSI, Huawei , Microsoft Surface, and Samsung.
