This weekend's Kirblog was sparked by a question from maishulkitty, who asked for advice on redesigning old characters for a new project. This is something I love doing on a constant basis, with TOME being the most prominent example of mine currently "in-practice". I've had a lot of interesting learning experiences in going back to the child-like mentality of being free-form with character designs and then applying what it is I'm capable of as an adult to my old ideas.
