Omicron: Good News, If It Can Be Slowed Down
Omicron: Good News, If It Can Be Slowed Down The market was afraid strong measures seen in Europe against Omicron could be put in place in the U.S. Biden has lifted those fears. Omicron is spreading at a very fast pace. What I'm seeing across the globe in Omicron waves is that cases do not translate to hospitalizations and deaths to the same extent. Primarily prior but also during the fourth COVID wave in South Africa the above research was conducted and in the Gauteng district seroprevalence in unvaccinated individuals was found to be 68.4%. I've never spent a terrible lot of time on cases this time around. Source: South-Africa hospital data There are about 330 million people in the U.S. There have been ~50 million confirmed cases in the U.S. A rough estimate could be that ~50% of cases are marked as actual cases . I think a short position in an index like the SP 500 or through an ETF like the SPDR SP 500 Trust could be beneficial.
