ONI CUSTOM ARCADE STICK XBOX 360 PS3 PC
Here is another stick completed with an Oni theme this time and full acrylic case.
I went for a different style of artwork this time with a layered look. So basically the top art is under the top plexi showing whats in the forefront. there is another layer in the middle of the case (half way into the depth of the case) to show what's in the middle ground and then bottom artwork facing upwards as the background. So when you look at it from the top and move side to side it looks 3D(ish). I also installed some of Oni's beads floating behind him.
- Full solid acrylic case
- Seimitsu LS-32-01 stick with custom Oni balltop + light up eyes
- Seimitsu buttons all round with leds on activation
- discreet wiring so most of it cant be seen when viewed from the top.
** PLEASE NOTE **
Some of the viewers feel that my prices are excessive but let me give you a rough break down...
I charge £400 for a complete bespoke arcade stick compatible with xbox360, ps3 & pc.
Stick, buttons, pcb, wiring, connectors, neutrik jacks, usb cables= £100 (bare minimum)
That leaves £300 which sounds like alot.
Take off about £40 for the lasercut plexi panels for both top & bottom along with thick laser cut steel panels for both top & bottom. I have to buy these in bulk to keep the cost down.
Paint aint cheap either. I can expect to spend about a minimum of £40 on paints. I have to stock up on lots of supplies (thinners, tack rags, special clothes, polishes etc) when it comes to paint so its not like buying paint in cheap aerosole cans.
That leaves £270 and I havent even started on the case yet. Hardwood case costs me about £30 in materials and takes about 4 (whole) days to prepare, cut and assemble.
I have to buy the wood rough sawn so I have to lug all this wood back and then start preparing it so its all planed and smooth and only then I can start cutting it all up. This takes alot of time and effort. The benefit of this is that all of the cases I build are rock solid and aren't hollow (light weight) like all manufactured sticks.
Long story spread approx. £200 over 25 working days= £8.00 a day........ slave labour
Thats not to mention all the tools and machinery I have invested in aswell. Not forgetting the technical know how of wood working, professional spraying, electrical technician, sheet metal working, plastic fabricator, graphic designer etc.
With regards to build quality, if you have seen any of my sticks which have the lasercut control panels you will see how solid, robust and weighty they are (not to be confused with my very early builds which were made of MDF and alot lighter).
For those of you that are outside the UK will obviously feel the burn once you convert the price into USD. Sadly, I cant control that.
I agree that its just an arcade stick, just like a car. A cheap or expensive/luxury one will get you from A-B but it all comes down to style.
