Artificial intelligence (AI) software and hardware advancements are resulting in a slew of smart gadgets that can detect and react to sights, sounds, and other patterns without the need for a constant internet connection. We will report on the  Oniro workgroup activities to make it a modern AI-supporting OS that allow for the quick and easy integration of ready-to-use AI components, as well as the support of a workflow engine, to create the ideal deployment environment for AI and ML functionalities, with the goal of extracting the most value from each value chain in the shortest possible time and at the lowest possible cost.
