SITUATION
Al-Qaeda-linked terrorist Saleh Ali Saleh Nabhan is the facilitator between Al-Qaeda and Al-Shabaab, he has been wanted by the United States since 2006. Nabhan was a member of the east-African al-Qaeda cell responsible for several terrorist attacks in East Africa, including the 1998 United States embassy bombings and the 2002 Mombasa attacks. A long-Running CIA SAD operation has been hunting Nabhan for a number of years, recruiting a network of Somali agents and paying off Somali warlords for information on the location of Nabhan and his associates. A team from the US Army's ISA ("The Activity") has began getting precise locations of the Nabhan from cell phone intercepts and surveillance from both short-range US Navy UAVs and long range CIA Predators. Intel has determined that Nabhan and his associated Al-Shabaab militants live in the town of Kujari area in southern Somalia.
MISSION
DEVGRU - Blue Squadron Pirates are tasked with raids on enemy camps, intel gathering, kill and capture of high value targets (HVTs) associated with Nabhan. Personnel recoveries of various hostages held by Al-Shabaab is also expected. Command wants to ensure Al-Shabaab insurgent leadership is eliminated or ideally captured for intelligence gathering purposes. Ultimately, the killing or capture of Nabhan is the goal.
