I compiled a short checklist of the steps involved in this TransX Earth Moon Free-Return set up. The list is as follows:
1. Stage 1:1, View:Setup - Target: Moon
2. Stage 1:1, View:Manoeuver - Add the normal amount of prograde to
get to the moon.
3. Stage 1:1, View:Manoeuver - Move the date forward as needed.
(The date is REALLY sensitive, so use the Ultra/Hyper Adjustment.)
Make sure you have a retrograde orbit at the moon. Your Inclination
at the moon should be close to 180.
4. Press FWD: Stage 2:2, go to View:Setup, press VAR to get to Select
Target Planets/Moons and choose Escape.
5. Press FWD: Stage 3:3 (Note: Stage 2 will automatically change from
Plan:Encounter to Plan:Slingshot)
In Stage 3:3, View:Sling Direct - Press -- to bring the Outward angle
down so that it becomes an ellipse tight around the earth.
Make sure you have a negative Outward angle. Your Outward angle
will probably be at least -140 or thereabout.
6. BCK Stage 2:3, View:Slingshot - Adjust the Pe Ratio to 1 by
changing the variables in Stage 1. The first variable to work with
is Prograde.
7. Stage 2:3, View:Slingshot - Adjust the R. Inc to the lowest possible
value by changing the variables in Stage 1. Should be Ch. Plane
variable.
8. FWD: Stage 3:3, View:Sling Direct - Check the Focus PeD. Adjust
it by using the variables in Stage 1. As you adjust the variables
in Stage 1, the Outward angle will also need refinement.
9. BCK Stage 2:3, View:Slingshot - If you changed the Focus PeD in
step 8, you may need to refine the Pe Ratio and R. Inc by adjusting
the variables in stage 1.
10. Stage 1, View:Target - Align the green x and burn the Manoeuvre
when it's time.

Common questions I get: What screen recording software do you use? What joystick do you use? What add-ons do you use? Where can I find the XR2 Ravenstar? Where do I download Orbiter? And much, much more. It's all answered in the FAQ I set up at this link (the link is a google document):
