Origami Grabber 🦞 REALLY Grabs!!! 🦀
373How to fold an origami grabber that really works! This grabber (picker-upper) can grab, lift and hold onto actual metal objects that are over 100 times its weight! No scissors, no tape and no glue, but it'll pick up scissors, tape and glue stick, as I show in the intro!
Following this tutorial, you'll have a functional pair of paper pliers at your fingertips in a little over 10 minutes! Fun fact: Plier in French means "to fold."
Using the same action mechanism I figured out how to fold a Chomping Fidget Fish, which I taught here: • Origami Chomping Fidget Fish (one week later).
Both of these models are my variations of Pincers designed by Enio Capra and published in1979 in the French origami magazine Le Pli 2 by Mouvement Francais des Plieurs de papier - MFPP (thanks to Roberto Morassi and Giladorigami.com for the info).
In designing this Origami Grabber model I was inspired by other origami pliers I had seen on YouTube (which I later learned were designed by Enio Capra). The addition of teeth and other modifications gives this model a lot of power to pick up objects.
