Oscar-Nominated Short Film War is Over: Q&A w/ Dave Mullins, Brad Booker, & Sean Ono Lennon
107We are honored to welcome filmmakers Dave Mullins, Brad Booker, and Sean Ono Lennon as they share about their animated short film “War is Over,” inspired by the music of John and Yoko!\n\nOur conversation is moderated by filmmaker and Gnomon instructor Miguel Ortega. Viewers will get to know the filmmakers and hear how they crafted an emotional and compelling 11-minute film inspired by John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s timeless anti-war song, “Happy Xmas (War is Over).”\n\nSet in an alternate WWI reality where a senseless war rages on, two soldiers on opposite sides of the conflict play a game of chess. A heroic carrier pigeon delivers the soldiers’ chess moves over the battlefield as the fighting escalates. Neither soldier knows his opponent as the game and the war builds to its climactic final move. Whoever wins the game, one thing is for certain: there are no winners in war. \n\nThe film is written and directed by 20-year Pixar alum and Oscar-nominee, Dave Mullins and Produced by Golden Globe-Nominee, Brad Booker. Sean Ono Lennon and Yoko Ono serve as Executive Producers. Animation was produced by Peter Jackson’s Wētā FX using Epic Games’ Unreal Engine.
