Toothpaste is great because it is inexpensive, eassy to clean and its not toxic.
It's also very easy to "glue" heatsink's to components whit toothpaste acting as thermal conductive glue, and with little twisting you can remove the heatsink without damaging the component its attached to.
Here is picture of my Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 motherboard with iproved VRM cooling
(Notice the tiny heatsink's on top of the Chokes)
