In 2013, a Canadian indie developed named Red Barrels Studio released one of the deepest and scariest games of all time: Outlast. It reinvigorated the genre, with indie and AAA studios alike pouring more time into ways to make their games scarier and more innovative.

In 2017, Red Barrels Studio came back with the second in the Outlast series, with the same idea of unarmed, unlit escape. The beautiful and rich story gives us reason to keep trying in a futile effort to escape the evil that presents no way to win. Watch the video to see if you think the game is still scary and fun to play, or if the dark and dreary phantasms will have you putting this one back on the shelf.
