About the movie


"Pacific Rim" is a science fiction action film directed by Guillermo del Toro. The movie was released in 2013 and is set in the near future when Earth is under attack by massive monsters called Kaiju that emerge from an interdimensional portal at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. To combat the threat, humanity develops giant humanoid robots called Jaegers, which are operated by two pilots who must link their minds in a neural connection called "drifting."

The movie follows the story of Raleigh Becket (played by Charlie Hunnam), a former Jaeger pilot who is called back into action to help stop the Kaiju invasion. He is paired with a rookie pilot, Mako Mori (played by Rinko Kikuchi), and together they must work to save the world from the Kaiju threat.

The film also features other notable actors such as Idris Elba, Charlie Day, and Ron Perlman. "Pacific Rim" received generally positive reviews for its impressive visual effects and thrilling action sequences, although some critics criticized the simplistic plot and character development.

The success of the film led to a sequel, "Pacific Rim Uprising," which was released in 2018.
