Padge Plays! Indie Edition - Shut Up & Slam Karate Basketball/Caramari/Maître D - Free Games To Play
1Welcome to Padge Plays! Indie Edition... times three!
In this series I will be playing some well known and less well known games all the way from yesteryear through to the present, sometimes from consoles and sometimes from the thousands of PC games available either through websites such as Steam, Good Old Games (GOG), as abandonware, (Home of the Underdogs) or through emulation software. (Such as WinVice C64)
In this episode I cover 3 games due to them being a little on the shorter side than what I usually show but none the less awesome!
The first is called Shut Up And Slam Karate Basketball by Seadads for Ludem Dare 37 which had the theme "One Room"! The premise is simple: the local stadium has been double booked for 2 different sport tournaments, basketball and karate. So the organisers in all their wisdom has decided to mix the 2 together! Anything goes on the court, the only thing that matters is getting the most points!

Due to a scheduling error, the local rec centre has been double booked for a charity basketball event and a karate championship! Luckily basketballers these days have the moves to please EVERYONE in attendance.
Its NBA Jam meets Double Dragon... It's SHUT UP AND SLAM JAM KARATE BASKETBALL!
In Drayman Green’s Shut Up and Slam Jam Karate Basketball you can play with up to four players (or against AI), in 2v2 arcade basketball matches between the King Cobras and the Cobra Kings. Even without the violence, it’s a fantastic game that feels like an NBA Jam title in all but name, complete with fast paced end-to-end gameplay, super-cool slam dunks and a some fabulously funny commentators. Combine this with the ability to beat the crap out of your opponents with kicks and assorted weaponry that the crowd throw in and you have a very addictive little game of beat ‘em up basketball!

Next up we have CARamari: Tentacle Four-Way by Pigsquad for the Global Game Jam 2017! This one is also simple enough on paper to play; You're a squid, (not a kid... Splatoon joke there for you!) and you have to direct 4 way traffic which should be easy, you have eight arms after all! The problem is everyone coming to this junction is VERY impatient and they'll only wait for a second or two... before chaos insues! This then becomes trying to do your best for as long as you can before you're fired for being inept... the story of my life!

CARamari: Tentacle Four-Way is a beautifully drawn and wonderfully chaotic little game in which you play a squid on their first day as a traffic conductor who must attempt to stop accidents being caused by some very impatient drivers!
You’d think that having 8 arms would make traffic conducting a walk in the park, but unfortunately the busy intersection you’re manning in CARamari: Tentacle Four-Way has a constant stream of reckless and impatient drivers. You hold up your arms to wave lanes of traffic through, making sure not to leave any one driver waiting too long or they’ll get impatient and just drive through anyway (usually resulting in a crash). However, you also have to be observant of vehicles that are driving too fast to stop, and must quickly wave them through or risk the chances of them read-ending someone who has managed to stop at the lights.
It’s a fun and fast paced game with some frantic traffic conducting gameplay and fantastic artwork that’s packed full of character. It’s unlikely your little squid will make it through his first fday as a traffic conductor, but you’ll have a ball trying!

The final game in this video is Maître D', again by Seadads for Ludem Dare 35 which had the theme "Shapeshifter". As the floor manager of a restaurant it is your job to get all the customers to their appropriate seats but these can be a several different heights and angles so you need to bend yourself in to different shapes in order to help them to their seats!

As the Maître D' at a fancy French brasserie, it's your job to ensure patrons encounter the best service imaginable. Worm your way in with the hoity-toity by showing them their seats!
