Pain is a downloadable game on the PlayStation Store, and was released in North America on November 29, 2007 and Europe on March 20, 2008. As of January 22, 2009, it is the most downloaded PlayStation Network game of all time.

Pain is a video game in which players attempt to damage the ragdoll character they play as much as possible by flinging them from a rubber-band catapult, using the Havok physics engine. Replay videos can also be watched, and can be edited and uploaded to YouTube or the XrossMediaBar.

The player starts with the character Jarvis McBalsy unlocked. Other characters can be unlocked or purchased from the PlayStation Store, including "Sackboy" from LittleBigPlanet (confirmed, not released),[5] the host of the video game series Buzz! and David Hasselhoff.
Non-playable characters are the background characters in the game, they are used to be launched at by a playable character, the characters include a granny, a mime, workers, clowns and many more.
Originally, the only playable area was the Downtown theme which was the theme that was released with the game. As of September 11, 2008, both Downtown and the "Abusement Park" are playable; the Abusement Park is accessible via the PlayStation Store. The Movie Lot Environment, was released on November 13, 2008.
