0Painkiller Hell & Damnation is a dynamic shooter, being a refreshed version of the first installment of the series, where only the player's reflexes matter. The project was created in the Gliwice-based studio The Farm 51, known for the NecroVision series. This team was founded by people who participated in the production of the first Painkiller.
The main character is Daniel Garner, who dies in a car accident with his wife. However, he doesn't go to heaven or hell. He is chosen to fight demonic hordes in the name of good, which is supposed to allow him to redeem his sins and join his wife in the afterlife. The game was built using Unreal Engine 3 technology, which allowed for much better graphics than in any of the previous installments. Despite changing the engine, the basic rules of the game remained unchanged. Once again, players take on the role of a heavily armed hero who must face hundreds of bloodthirsty enemies and gigantic bosses.
We have at our disposal a quite extensive arsenal. Players can use a stake gun, which nails enemies to walls, ceilings, or floors. In addition to that, there are standard FPS weapons such as a shotgun or rocket launcher, all of which have two firing modes. In Painkiller Hell & Damnation, there is only one tool that was not present in the first installment of the series – the Soulcatcher. It allows the collection of souls of fallen enemies and shooting them with a beam of light.
In the refreshed version of Painkiller, players can compete against each other in multiplayer mode via the Internet or local network. Modes such as capture the flag, deathmatch, team deathmatch, and survival are available. Additionally, you can play the single-player campaign together with friends in co-op mode.
