I: first, to explain the premise. It's normally not possible to open up menu while in air, but if you press start and A at a correct moment after finishing your last jump, it becomes possible. This allows a few new effects, like shown on this vid: it's possible to delay entering a pipe.

II: a rare alternative that I just had to try out - jumping in water after having buffered a pipe entering. However, nothing too interesting happens. Mario automatically enters the pipe and seems to lose his life only after coming out from the other end. Untested options: buffering a pipe entering, then falling on an item or dying, for example.

III: by turning paper thin at a correct time and jumping, the shifting effect is awkwardly prolonged. It can be prolonged even further by doing the jump attack or smashing with your mallet. This causes some nice effects when doing stuff around the game, and it is related phenomena to the "Mario walking backwards" glitch seen elsewhere on Youtube.

IV: turning into a plane with the glitch on. Mario shifts a few extra times while turning into a plane.

V: getting eaten by piranhas with the glitch on!

VI: you can get on this angled ledge, but only if you're thin Mario. Reverting to normal drops you off, but with a correct timing you can do a normal jump from the ledge regardless. Not that it's of any use, but just to mention.

VII: with thin Mario, shoving yourself under collision of precisely this height causes your appearance to change and a strange (but quiet) buzzing sound to ring. You can let go of R and not become normal again, but visiting the menu does turn you normal (unlike when in an actual cramped space).

Kazooie is the player in a few of these clips. Had a recording session when he was visiting, and this is a compilation from it.
