Partisans 1941 is a very competent real time combat strategy game. It's set in World War 2 where you play as a Russian resistance force against the German occupation. Strangely enough though, all the Russians have British accents, I must have missed that anecdote in history class.
Jokes aside, the game is well made. The levels are very challenging but fair. The maps are pretty large and well crafted. Most areas in the map have multiple entry points as well as enough cover and gaps in the enemy patrol patterns that you could pull off a perfect stealth run most of the time with careful observation, experimentation, and a lot of reloading. You can always ditch the stealth and go action heavy as well. The game supports a lot of flexibility in how you can approach each situation.
There are a handful of playable characters as well, each with their own unique skillset that supports different play styles. Take Sanek for example. He has a disguise skill that lets him walk in plain sight around most enemies. You can use this skill to talk to enemies and redirect their vision cones or you can use it to sneak Sanek into a more advantageous position. Sanek also has shotgun related skills as well as an increased chance to dodge while running. You can combine these two skills to use Sanek in a more aggressive run and gun play style.
Inbetween each mission, you come back to your main hub where you can choose to craft items, harvest food, go on missions for supplies and experience, or construct additional buildings. You also get little tidbits of narrative exposition through dialogue and text.
Overall, Partisans 1941 is a fun real time combat strategy game. The flexibility of the characters and level design allows players to choose a style they like and implement some creative strategies. The freedom and flexibility for different approaches makes each encounter a fun and exciting experience.
