A small block of mass m is placed on a plank of mass M, which rests on a frictionless horizontal floor. Coefficient of friction between the block and the plank is mu. The block is given a sharp impulse, so that it starts sliding on the plank with an initial velocity u. Due to friction between the block and the plank, the block slows down and finally stops sliding on the plank. What average thermal power is dissipated in this process ?
