Patterns of Mind
I decided to try writing a song over the Labor Day weekend. This can be played using three basic guitar chords (A, D, E), but I don't have enough experience to do that for 2 minutes straight without messing up. So for now, I just synthesized that part using TuxGuitar.
The ideas are very-loosely based on the book "Our Mathematical Universe" by Max Tegmark.
I may say
That we're patterns of matter and mind
Tangled up and woven through time
So I fill in my colors
To look and discover
Just which of these patterns is mine
And I know
This pattern's got ends to its growth
Don't have to pretend that it don't
And when mine draws it shutters
Oh, there will be others
Just not in a place that I own
Feel it flow
As moments cut trails through the snow
Put things in your self till it grows
Cause you don't need a reason
To savor the breeze
And go barreling into the glow
And I say... [Repeat first verse]
Patterns of mind
Patterns of matter
Tangled through time
Filling our colors
Patterns of who we are
