I've done it wrong (in this video) some way sending away too much survivors.
The best things to do:
- over the chars you choose, have only male for the events (females get pregnant and make you lose more time).
- have 3 survivors for the categories choosen (scavenger, engineer, builder, leader maybe too) so Gustav teach in these (i get soldier perks from Riffs).
I've done this way to speed up events for free perks (camper, driver etc) but i must leave 3 survivor for each category except soldier to have all the Gustav teach events.. surely i've lost some event from that but nothing serious, Gustav teach 1-2 times in every city.. just saying to think about this.
Having only your choosen survivors you can fast fill them with perks but Gustav don't teach if the category is missing, (except soldier) so is up to you decide the best option.. the only suggestion is to send away all females cause pregnant take away 3 events everytime even choosing the abort.. for time off, for the hospital and the starting pregnancy (except the pilot, for now i need that my chars have NOT the pilot skill, when i've all the escort choosen i get back with all and i'll learn that skill on all them and the main char, now i've Xavier Griffin that have get perks from backstory then is not a good choice)
