PES 2008 is not worth your time, a disappointing start to PS3 era
PES 6 released for a 7th gen console, Xbox 360. However it was a port of the last-gen game, it was nothing new. PES 2008 was the first PES game in the series focused on next-gen hardware and released for all three 7th gen consoles, PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii. Its title is different from the other Pro Evolution Soccer games in that it is of a year and not a version; this was due to EA Sports' FIFA series naming their titles with two digit numbers (i.e. 07, 08) and in conclusion would seem that PES was a year behind FIFA (to non-fans which had no knowledge of the previous games of the franchise). Naming change was sensible.
It's always hard to start a new era, PES 2008 suffered from that. WE10 was matured thanks to WE9, WE8 etc. but PES 2008 was almost a blank page, even though it does not revolutionize anything. Gameplay speed is broken. It's too fast and sometimes it gets even faster, inconsistent. I played the PS3 version on RPCS3 and PC version with two different patches.
I can easily say that patched PES 2014 was way better than patched PES 2008.
0:00 - 0:57 PS3 version on RPCS3
0:57 - 4:05 PC patched with EURO 2008 v1.0 2007-08
4:05 - 6:07 PC patched with Original Season 2007-08
