Phantasy Star I - Japanese Sega Mark III introduction
Phantasy Star was originally released on the Sega SG-1000 Mark III within Japan. The Sega Mark III had an optional Yamaha YM2413 FM sound chip, which gave it better sound capabilities than the NTSC-US and PAL Master Systems. The Japanese Master System would then have the sound chip built in. Therefore, the music in the Japanese version of Phantasy Star actually sounds different to other releases.\n\nThere is a border around the actual game picture as this video was taken from Phantasy Star Collection for the Sega Saturn. You can choose to either play it with the Sega Mark III sound specifications, or those found in other releases of the game.
