Piczle Cross: Rune Factory (Switch)
1Although I'm not truly a fan of the Rune Factory series (I've tried to like them I swear!), given I really enjoyed the Story of Seasons version of Piczle Cross, I decided to also give this one a go.
Boy am I glad I did: it's easily the best game in the Piczle Cross franchise. Maybe. Probably. The look, the music, the puzzles, the progression, everything so far has been top notch. Though I can sense a few frame drops here and there, it simply looks, sounds, and feels ten times more polished than the last title.
So, congrats Score Studios: you've made the Rune Factory game for me. Thank you.
This video showcases the very beginning of adventure mode, the first few puzzles, and even a battle. The battle gameplay really brought me back to the old days of Mario's Picross, with the timed gameplay and penalties for mistakes. I'm not truly the type of player who likes those kinds of restrictions, but here it makes perfect sense; a battle has to have stakes.
The farm screen evidently builds upon what the Story of Seasons version had- as you solve puzzles you unlock features, however here you can actually pick and choose what to show, instead of the game just picking it for you. I really like it, it gives some individuality. Apparently you can even get married and all, that's cool!
I'm actually still working on completing the other one (super close to solving all the puzzles! I'll make sure to record the final few for the channel). But I think I'll have no issue switching back and forth between these two titles on my free time. I may record a few more showcases for this one, but I'll likely wait to display something more end-game, like with Story of Seasons.
As usual, the software belongs to its owners, I only record my gameplay for my own enjoyment.
