Pillars of Eternityㅣ필라스 오브 이터니티 game Play part 2ㅣ-KJS
Honestly, it's hard to fault this game for having you read, or not let you so a solo ironman run w/o playing the game before. Trying to force this game to be absolutely perfect feels like missing the point. The game was made during a fairly desperate time at Obsidian, requiring a crowdfund just to get created, so funding for a fully voiced/cinematic experience over gameplay is a poor decision. Secondly, there's an obvious effort into making the world rich with lore and character, so creating a familiar mechanics system that's influenced by games your player base enjoys makes more sense.
Looking at this game through a post bg3 lense is unfair, considering even Larian had a similar formula for DOS1/2 with a more turn based approach. By the time bg3 had come out, they had seen massive success with prior games and had the money to make their next game however they wanted with the highest quality they could. The same cannot be said about Obsidian by the time this game initially released. Both titles in the series had relatively low budgets for their scopes, and still churned out games that had 60 hrs of gameplay each. The point is, is that this series is one where you sit in your gamin' chair, and explore the world around you. Ignore the main plot if you want, and do what interests you. Don't let modern standards bog up your experience, because this is a great tribute to crpgs of the past, with a little bit more QoL to refine what makes those games dated. Both 1&2 are well worth it, especially during a sale.
