1-credit clear of Pistol Daimyo no Bōken (ピストル大名の冒険), arcade game played via MAME. Final score: 301,200

This game is bonkers.

You can choose from five towns to challenge, each of which is made up of four short stages. Once three of the towns are cleared you go to the final level. In this run I do the first three: Evil frog town, shuriken town, and ghost town. The last two towns are ridiculously hard.

Blowing up blue pots nets you a hanafuda card. Once you have three cards, a ball comes down which you can break. This might give you a fan (speedup), a barrel (armor)...or nothing. As far as I can tell it's random - which means the difficulty is also a bit random. (One playthrough I got no armor but three speedups in a row...)

You can tap the button to fire a straight-ahead peashooter, hold for a charge shot, and hold longer to lob a larger bomb. The medium charge shot is your best friend; you should use that by default and use the other shots only in special circumstances.
