Pixar's "Bao" Short REACT & REVIEW [I Cried for 5 Minutes Straight]
160Thank you for watching- this movie was obviously tough for me to watch. Yet another amazing Domee Shi work where she is able to show parenting and the effects on the child. I went into how a parent's actions mold their children in my "Turning Red" REACT & REVIEW, but this one was able to show more of the mother's perspective, despite her still being in the wrong (even though all the mom wants to do is keep her son safe). When the son brought someone home, that the mom clearly didn't approve of, instead of trying to being accepting and letting her son go, she swallowed him, and any progress that their relationship could make since she couldn't accept he had grown up. The son clearly left, which of course made the mom devastated, but he needed to live his own life, even if his mom couldn't accept it. The ending was so beautiful, and very realistic with how fixing this type of parent/child relationship is typically left up to the child.
