Pixel Gladiator first arena
At first glance, this game is the unholy combination of two amazing worlds. The tower defense and the 2-D side-scrolling worlds. I notice the reassemble this style has to the Metroidvania games which made me feel a little bit nostalgic since I am an old school gamer. Pixel Gladiator comes with a survival mode and three arenas offering a good variety to all different types of gamers. Like any other tower defense game, you upgrade your towers to take down the waves of enemies, in this case, aliens. As you progress, each wave has new challenges, including new and stronger enemies as well as a bigger amount of enemies to defeat. This game offers amazing pixel art while keeping all the things you remember from the 8-bit era, alive. Here is the twist that makes this game unique. A side of the already mentioned 2-D style is the character that you control to help your towers defeat the aliens. The game is simple, no tutorial needed with easy to learn controllers. Here some tips that I came up with on my first run. During the boss fight, the towers are pretty much useless at least in the first arena keep this in mind and do your upgrades wisely. The game might need some adjustments to the hitboxes/hurt boxes, this is very noticeable in the boss fight. It is easy to adapt and anticipate the hits but still annoying.
