So, I hadn't updated my version of DEMUL in quite some time. It's still on the same number since the last time I tried it out, but Planet Harriers seems to work far better now. In a previous video I uploaded the game was running at about half speed and had such laggy audio I ended up totally replacing it in the video. Here the game is running almost full speed and for the most part the audio sounds OK. This may partly be down to an improvement in my PC hardware since then, as I bought a new GPU about 2 years ago, but I'm pretty sure I'd tried this game again since the upgrade and it wasn't running as well as it is here.

I never got to play, or even see, this game in the arcades when it was first released, so playing it on DEMUL has been my first experience with it. I was never as much of a Space Harrier fan as I was Outrun and After Burner, but as a modern day re-imaging of a classic Sega franchise I was always curious to give this one a try (I like the inclusion of Opa Opa as a secret character here as well and the nod back to the un-released PC Engine CR-ROM game Space Fantasy Zone https://youtu.be/kTD86ykpW_Q?list=PLAevDYyhvzHrsDI3z-enrTsvPeE3I7qR4).

The controls in this emulated version seem super sensitive and by the third stage the difficulty level seemed to have ramped up so high, I was literally just dying over-and-over again - if this was a real machine I would've pumped about £100's worth of credits in. I can't tell if it's me just being incredibly shit at the game on top of it's very nature as a credit gobbling arcade title or if something in the emulation is making it really hard to see what's killing me combined with very overly sensitive controls.

My PC:
Intel core i5-2310 @2.90GHz - 8 GB
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 - 2 GB
Windows 7 Home Premium
