I am constructing a tier list for how useful each plant is in this run, here is where the world 3 plants fall:
Lilly Pad: G tier
Pretty important for the pool levels in my opinion.
Squash: S tier
You need another potato mine to keep yourself in the early game longer, or just a good cheap insta-kill plant? Squash is the answer.
Threepeater: D tier
If you see me using threepeater, it is not because I think the level is hard. It is because I think the level is so easy that I can store up to 325 sun to waste on a plant as useless as threepeater. The only good thing about threepeater is that he is decent for late game (there are more effective options though) and for an achievement, but other than that there is no real reason to use threepeater besides wanting to dunk on the game.
Tangle Kelp: F tier
Tangle kelp is an insta-kill for the water. But who cares? Most of the time cheap insta-kills like potato mine or squash are useful in the beginning for stalling purposes. This does not work for tangle kelp because zombies don't spawn in the water until the middle of the day, defeating the point of the plant. This is only compounded by the fact that it is a bad insta-kill plant in general only targeting one zombie. Overall tangle kelp is almost never worth wasting a seed slot.
Jalapeno: A tier
jalapeno isn't bad, but it isn't as useful as it seems. While it seems useful to have an attack that can save you at the last second, if it has come to that a single jalapeno isn't going to save you. Over all jalapeno isn't worth the same price as a cherry bomb which can take out 3 lanes instead of just 1. I am putting jalapeno in A tier though for a single reason, Gargantuars, enough said.
Spikeweed: B tier
Not an essential plant, but it helps take care of Zombonies and gives some bonus damage to any Zombies that walk on it.
Torchwood: F tier
Makes snow pea worse, automatic F tier.
Tall nut: C tier
The extra defense from the tall nut sounds useful, and being able to block pole vaulters, dolphin riders, and pogo zombies sounds like a pretty big plus, however the fact that tall nut costs 125 sun defeats the main point of using a wall nut in the first place, that being that they are a quick easy defense.
