Gex came out in 1995, really towards the beginning of the PSX. The setting: inside a TV, is pretty different than the sea of other platformers. It stuck with tried and true 2D platforming, with a uniquely 90's character: A couch potato that quotes movies nonstop. This type of character seems relegated to the 90s. The game Fox Hunt also featured a TV-quoting smart mouth protagonist. It's kind of interesting that you don't see that any more. What would the equivalent be today? Maybe someone who constantly references internet memes?
