DevilutionX got me into playing Diablo 1 on the pc for the first time using a lvl 1 weapon without healing potion.

What I like about Diablo 3 is that you don't need to worry about putting points into your character while you're in the middle of a battle. It work seamlessly. Trying Diablo 1 atm and I can see why they go that route.

After playing Diablo 1.
I realized spamming HP potion is a handicapped feature put in place by the developers?
For example, when my character casts heal, it can't move and requires mana. This make the game extremely dangerous fun, especially at 100 % game speed.
When my I used a healing potion, there was no drinking animation. It instantly healed my character. There is no interruption from the enemy attack . My character died as a result for casting Heal in the middle of a fight.
For skill-based balance, they should add drinking animation for Diablo 5, like in Elden Ring.
In Team Fortress 2, I remember the Heavy Weapon Guy has to eat his Sandwiches for 3 seconds to fully heal himself and he can't move.
