I recently tried out the VirtIO GPU driver for LibVirt VMs and found it to be very responsive on the desktop. As I had read that it also supported 3D acceleration I figured I'd install Steam and test some game.
To my surprise Satellite Reign runs quite well at 1440x900 (I wanted the VM to have a resolution I could fit into a window on my 1920x1080 host display).
The host is a Ryzen 2700X with 16 GB RAM, running Fedora 31.
The VM has 2 of the host CPU's cores, 8 GB RAM, and also runs Fedora 31.
