EXPANDED DESCRIPTION
The original PSVR has been a successful proof of concept that demonstrated the brilliant sense of presence you can only get in VR but as it approaches its fifth birthday since launch the technology is now beginning to show its age.

The great thing is Sony has confirmed its working on the next generation of VR for PlayStation 5 and its even released the main specifications of PSVR 2 (the actual product name hasn’t been confirmed yet) as well as reveal the new custom-designed PlayStation VR controllers. Listen, of course games are going to look and play better but Sony has to be aware of the rapid change of developments on other VR systems including the adoption of OpenXR development standard and the many communities who will migrate to an online space. For VR to thrive and grow on PS5, PlayStation needs to leap into the metaverse.

I’ve taken the time to consider the ten most relevant features and services that would really benefit the next generation of VR on PS5 (PSVR2 on PS5). Some are game related, some are hardware-based and some are services and features related. If Sony can ensure that the next generation of VR on PlayStation is launched with all these features then it will have a real opportunity to build momentum to take PlayStation into the metaverse and beyond.
