"Virgil" by Steve Orlando is a 2015 "queersploitation" revenge fantasy graphic novel published by Image Comics. Set in contemporary Kingston, Jamaica, it follows Virgil, a closeted gay police detective, whose life is shattered when his sexuality is exposed. His friends are murdered, and his boyfriend Ervan is kidnapped. Vowing revenge, Virgil embarks on a brutal quest to rescue Ervan and punish those responsible, navigating rampant homophobia and violent bigotry along the way. Inspired by 1970s Blaxploitation films, Virgil has been acclaimed for its powerful narrative and intense, action-packed storyline.
