It's not every day you get a brand new game in a popular retro gaming franchise...but this month...look what we get! Pocky and Rocky: Reshrined! It's half a pseudo remake of the SNES original Pocky and Rocky but it's mostly a sequel to that awesome 2D run and gun game with super light shmup elements! But its modern and its retrogaming in the same breath...and that means I had to talk about it :)

If you've never played the original Pocky and Rocky or it's sequel you are really missing out! The good thing is the developers at Natsume were clearly fans as they've given us a brand new Pocky and Rocky (known as Kiki KaiKai in Japan) to enjoy. I am playing it on the Nintendo Switch but it's available on the PS4 as well...so you have options as to what modern video game console you want to play your retro games on! But however you play it...this is a retro gamers dream come true! A Taito 16-bit classic come to life for the modern gaming era!
and the 2D pixel art is just a straight 10/10
I even included some comparison shots of the original Pocky and Rocky on SNES so you can see where it all came from! I played it on MiSTer FPGA.
