Pokemon Gaia (v3.2): Nestpine Gym Battle
After reaching Nestpine Town, we're tasked with taking on the second gym, which houses flying type pokemon. Normally flying types aren't the hardest type to take down (unless your opponent is called Winona), but this is a huge exception to that trend.
Here's how Aria's pokemon fight. Her lead Vullaby will always start with Scary Face if you outspeed it, guaranteeing that your current pokemon will be slowed until it switches out. Then, it'll either set up a Leer to lower your defenses or go straight for Aerial Ace, which cannot miss and deals good damage. Next, her Gligar is immune to electric type attacks, punishing anyone who tries spamming Shock Wave, and it oftentimes will just spam Knock Off, dealing good damage while also stripping your pokemon of whatever item they were holding for that battle. And then there's Chatot, easily one of the most dangerous pokemon in the game; yes, I'm serious. Chatot is deceptively fast, almost certain to outspeed most of your options at this point in the game unless you match its level or are higher leveled than it, and it loves to spam Chatter. For those who don't know, Chatter is Chatot's signature move and we're specifically looking at the Gen 6+ incarnation of the move, where not only does it have a respectable 65 base attack (before STAB), but it also has a *100% Confusion infliction chance.* That's right, not only is it sure to outspeed you, it'll also hit you with a decently hard hitting attack that's guaranteed to confuse you. Even when using Umbreon, one of the tankiest options I have in this run, I still had to use the first healing item of the run because the confusion damage and Chatter spamming adds up that much! Fortunately, if you can beat this significant difficulty spike, the game will start to ease up from here. It'll still be difficult, but it won't be anywhere near as cheap for a long while.
The reason some of the video lacks sound effects is because there's planned OST for Pokemon Gaia's v4 release (whenever this will be, it seems to be in developmental limbo last time I checked) and I wanted to see how some of the songs would be like played as they're meant to in this version. Please support the creator of the rom hack, Spherical Ice, as the rom hack and OST belong to him. (And if you're reading this, Spherical, and you want the videos removed due to the usage of the unreleased OST, let me know and I'll remove the video)
