Pokémon Gold/Silver/Crystal: A Great Sequel, Afraid To Move On
22After the success of Pokemon Red, Blue, & Yellow, Gamefreak decided to do something no one expected and make more games because money is cool. Following the theme of the subtitles being colours, these games were titled Gold, Silver & Crystal. Gold & Silver released November 21st 1999 in Japan with Crystal being released a year later on December 14th 2000. These games are also known as Generation 2, with an entirely new region and 100 brand new pokemon alongside the original 151.
My name is Renegade and welcome back to the Pokemon Mainline Retrospect, where I go through every mainline game in the series, including remakes, and discuss how good these games are and whether they still hold up today. Last episode we talked about Generation 1, and came to the conclusion that while it is a decent starting point, the game’s quality is very much lacking and doesn’t hold up as well as a lot of people make it out to do. Overall it’s a bad game and I definitely don’t recommend it.
