Oh boy guess who pulled Alder in one multi!!! I'm pushing this a lot earlier in this week's queue because I figured people want to see Alder in action.
I can't say much about Alder that I didn't cover on his discussion video. He is an extremely self-sufficient, fragile striker with solid damage potential but Alder does nothing revolutionary other than "Hyper Beam go brrrrrrr" although Struggle Bug set-up the field to tank Latios a little easier.
The challenge in this lineup was finding a good core for Alder that doesn't default to SS Blue, Skyla or Sabrina. Anyone can 3v3 Latios alongside SS Blue + Skyla as Wulfric kindly demonstrated the other day.
Leaf is actually an amazing tank for Latios and I'll be using her fairly often in these showcases: innate Impervious blocks any attempts to reduce her stats while she globally buffs the team's defenses to help tank the constant AoE damage. I chose to not use Alder's Trainer Move because it'd be counter-intuitive to the effort Leaf puts into raising the team's stats. My Leaf has Vigilance as a Lucky Skill which is turning very handy for the random Sure Crits that bypass her buffs otherwise.
Alder needs help generating gauge given how expensive Hyper Beam is. I first toyed around with Calem due to his insane Speed tier but after thinking about it I settled on Cheren, which I honestly never thought I'd be using so quickly after the Halloween Full-Forces. Alder requires no offensive help after Leaf buffs his Accuracy so I can afford the slot on a utility unit.
Cheren is hyper bland as a Support but he brings AoE regen, which is functionally a party-wide Potion, plus the gauge refill to assist Alder. Full Heal also comes in handy because Latios can inflict Paralysis with lucky Thunderbolt or Dragon Breath procs. I gave more weight to this combination because Leaf and Cheren activate Type Skills together for a massive +120 HP boost for the party which really beefs up Alder's bulk.
