Darkness Ablaze is available now so I'm doing what I usually do first when a new set comes out and trying out the theme decks, and unlike the solid lineup of theme decks we've had over the last few sets... this one's not very good.

The main strategy it's leading you toward is to use the free retreat cards like Bird Keeper and Switch to fire off Galarian Sirfetch'd's Meteor Assault attack in succession, which sounds fine in theory but isn't as easy to set up as I'd like in practice.

It also doesn't help that most of the support Pokémon have high-cost attacks without much in the way of reliable energy acceleration. Getting Stonjourner or Hippowdon set up gets in the way of the Sirfetch'd rotation strategy which makes the deck really clunky to play.

It's hard to even feel satisfied with the wins I got from this honestly; most of them (including some I didn't even bother including in the video) felt one-sided because the other player was either running an outdated deck or just had bad luck with their opening hand. It seems like every other recent theme deck I encountered could out-speed this easily.

I haven't got around to playing Galarian Darmanitan yet, here's hoping for better results.
