Pokemon Violet | Part 34: Iron Treads, the Quaking Earth Titan
4Titan Pokémon (Japanese: ヌシポケモン Leader Pokémon) are a type of variant Pokémon encountered in the "Path of Legends" storyline of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. They appear much larger than other Pokémon of their kind, and they guard the Herba Mystica, rare ingredients said to be able to restore health instantly when eaten.
200 years ago, the Area Zero exploration team, led by Heath, discovered the Herba Mystica hidden deep within Area Zero, in The Great Crater of Paldea, located in the center of the region. They recorded information on the herbs in the Scarlet BookS/Violet BookV and gave the Herba Mystica their proper name. They subsequently discovered that the Herba Mystica comes in five different flavor varieties with separate healing effects. Due to this discovery, the team attempted to grow the herbs outside of Area Zero, in different sites around Paldea, but before they were able to harvest them, the herbs were eaten by Pokémon, leading to the first appearance of Titan Pokémon. As a result, the project was abandoned.
At some point, a Paradox Pokémon called Great TuskS/Iron TreadsV escaped Area Zero and consumed the Herba Mystica in order to become the Quaking Earth Titan.
During the events of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, specifically, the Path of Legends, Arven and the player would face off against the six respective Titan Pokémon. After defeating each Titan, Arven collects the herbs and makes Sandwiches in order to heal his wounded partner, Mabosstiff.
Titan Pokémon are ordinary Pokémon empowered and grown to gigantic proportions by the Herba Mystica they eat. There are a total of five Titan Pokémon fights to accomplish. Each Titan Pokémon is fought twice; the first fight is done alone, while the second fight is done together with Arven. After defeating a Titan Pokémon as part of the story, it can be encountered again in the same area it was fought as a normal-sized Pokémon, where it can be caught. These Pokémon will have the Titan Mark, which allows them to be given the title "the Former Titan."

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are set in the Paldea region of the Pokémon universe, which appears to be loosely based off of the Iberian Peninsula. The player visits the Naranja (in Scarlet) or Uva (in Violet) Academy in time for the annual Treasure Hunt, where the rival character, Nemona, encourages the player to explore Paldea and find their own treasure.
From there, three stories open up for the player to experience. Starfall Street has the player facing off against a gang of rebellious students called Team Star, the Path of Legends storyline has the player team up with Arven to explore the Paldea region to fight giant Pokémon and obtain the Herba Mystica, and Victory Road follows the series tradition of fighting the region’s eight Gym Leaders in order to face the Champion and become the best Pokémon Trainer.
Unlike previous titles in the mainline games, there is no set order for the player to face the Gym Leaders.
