Misogyny is a rising problem, but male power fantasy isn't, infact it cant help you through some horrible times in your life. Saving a princess in video games can make you a better guy in real life, helping someone you don't even know personally out in a bar from getting molested by some brute.

I'm sick of being told that my life experience doesn't happen, that potrayals of women as manipulative of men's emotions doesn't ever happen, that men are all misogynists and women are perfect flowers of control. I hate having to defend my gender and then feel guilty about it. But here I go again.

There is a problem at the moment with the rise of men oppressing women, but lets not combat it by blanket ridiculing or berating men or art that depicts a woman as a villain. We just need to be honest that no person, regardless of gender, is perfect. That we need to hold everyone accountable when it comes to abuse in a relationship and to admit that there are people at fault of both genders. And that it has nothing to do with their gender, it has to do with them being an asshole. Long story short, stop being assholes to one another. Stop justifying cheating on your partner, stop physically abusing your partner, just stop. Listen to one another, be excellent to one another and party on dudes.
