Power Interview: Eduardo Gomes (PL-TO), Senator
0🏗 ️ Power Infrastructure | Senator Eduardo Gomes (PL-TO) said that Congress is working to advance Bill 2,338 of 2023, which regulates the use of AI (artificial intelligence) in Brazil, as soon as possible. The congressman expects the proposal to be voted on by the first quarter of 2026.
Gomes was the bill's rapporteur in the Senate. Now, the bill is being processed in the Chamber of Deputies, with Federal Representative Aguinaldo Ribeiro (PP-PB) as rapporteur, and should return for review in the Upper House. The bill establishes principles, rights, and rules for the use of AI in Brazil and is the subject of disagreements among sectors and categories seeking to protect their activities.
"We are trying, as much as possible and maintaining the independence of both houses, to work in harmony so that we can take advantage of the discussion in the Chamber of Deputies and bring it to a final version in the Senate as soon as possible, with a sound investment law, to democratize the use of artificial intelligence with the necessary security that the population needs," said Gomes.
These statements were made during an interview with Poder360's senior editor, Guilherme Waltenberg, at the 5th TelComp 2025 Symposium - Telecom, Technology and Competition for the Digital Future, this Tuesday (August 19, 2025), the first day of the event. The seminar is organized by Telcomp (Brazilian Association of Competitive Telecommunications Service Providers) and is fully covered by the digital newspaper Poder360.
