In this Showcase, we will describe our graphic novel–Power On! (Ryoo & Margolis,
2022, MIT Press, illustrated by Charis JB)–and companion educator resources focused on translating educational research for youth and educator audiences. The goal of the book and resources is to support both in and out-of-school discussions of key equity and ethics issues, as well as underrepresentation in computing. The graphic novel was written with the input of a youth advisory council, whose voices and perspectives will be featured in our Showcase video. The graphic novel educator resources have been created in collaboration with Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) Equity Fellows–a group of K-12 computer science teachers and leadership committed to centering justice in computing education–who are also featured in this video.
