With Star Ocean 6 on the horizon, I've been wanting to get back to doing more Star Ocean covers. I will definitely be doing some Star Ocean 6 arrangements, but I have decided to wait until after playing the game to do these since the process of covering a track over exposes me to it such that I am tired of it for a while. I don't want this to get in the way of enjoying the game so the SO6 covers will be a while off for now.

Preemptive Strike is a track that sort of exemplifies what I like so much about the Star Ocean 3 soundtrack. It mixes together analog synths and odd meters and an acoustic bass and jazzy break that seemingly could be out of place but actually work really well into the vibe. And it all comes together to describe the atmosphere of a space ship preparing for battle or in some sort of state of action. The instrumentation, composition, sense of exploration, and the quality of the vibe and atmosphere is why I love the Star Ocean 3 music so much.

In this arrangement, I used the OB-6 (as shown in the video) for most parts. The bass is actually coming from the MatrixBrute using the OB-6 as the controller via a midi cable. This video is also unusual for me in that almost all the video you see is the actual take of me recording the audio (minus the saxophone).
