I wrote a plugin for the Prismatik ambilight software that maps values available from the iRacing API onto the LEDs on the back of my monitor. By modifying the plugin's configuration file, you can change the mapped variable, the range, pattern, colors, and more.

Presets Shown:
0:07 Shift Light
0:17 Braking
0:22 RPM
0:27 Oil Temperature
0:29 Splits (Delta Best Lap Time)
0:37 Speed
0:42 Throttle
0:48 Lateral G's
0:57 Gear
1:03 Roll
1:05 Pitch
1:07 Yaw

Any variable exposed in the API can be mapped to the LEDs, although for values that aren't percentages the user will have to set the range themselves.

Some of the presets in the video have had their ranges fudged to make for more interesting animations (Roll / Pitch / Yaw being the most extreme cases). The temperature and splits animations were recreated for the video as that information is not stored in the replay file, although those presets do work for the live sim.
