Problems with Pollux [3.2 MoC, Breath of the Othershore] | Honkai: Star Rail
This boss is kinda asinine. While I went over it in the video, I think it's worth typing up more detailed thoughts in here regarding my feelings about it.
In general, the existence of shilled bosses isn't really a secret, but most of the time you have some option to combat it that doesn't necessary lock you into a specific character, which is the part I dislike. Many would bring up the Puppet Trio that kept getting shilled for Firefly, which was annoying without her, but there were ways around it; Gallagher by himself was a very strong option to help break them, and you had a good number of options to get rid of them. Acheron, Superbreak Guinaifen, HMC, DHIL, Serval (crit or break).
Most bosses can still be played relatively straightforward anyway (Sleepie, Hoolay, SAM) or have some way of playing around mechanics that isn't inherently tied to an overtly small selection of characters (Aventurine, Nikador, Flame Reaver (which is just a worse Nikador tbh), Banana) by matching element/bringing aoe etc. While you'd certainly have a much worse time without their respective units, you had options that weren't just limited to their respective units. For Pollux, who basically stonewalls you for like one and a half cycles if you don't have self HP-depletion, you have... what? Arlan?
The real problem, as you might expect, loops back into the aspect of powercreep, but moreso for endgame itself rather than our units; enemy HP in modes like MoC has basically tripled since the start of Penacony. I brought up options like Superbreak Guinaifen earlier, but they didn't work just because they countered the boss of the week, but also because enemy HP wasn't inflated to hell. It's not like break Gui was ever particularly good for obvious reasons. So yeah, you could use Arlan for Pollux, but good luck getting the dps needed, unless your name is Velliety.
At the end of the day though, for just casually clearing this MoC rotation isn't too bad honestly; it's rather chill once you get past Pollux's waiting simulator. I can't say it leaves a nice taste in my mouth though, and I can certainly complain even if I clear, scuff and all.
