I've actually been accumulating my own personal collection of sound rips direct from Top Gun (1986), as well as gathered audio from sources like Sound Ideas and Pro Sound Effects to get the original raw samples of the effects used in film. Such a searching process is easier said than done however as VERY few of those samples are even available, and those that are seem to not be in the original stereo channel formats they were in back in the day.

I was pleasantly surprised to have found these sounds though! It's from these that sound designers back then made many of the powerful and meaty jet flying sounds that helped earn Top Gun it's award for Best Sound Editing!
