(With an out-of-tune key at the end *facepalm*)

Been working on a complete re-design of my grid system and how I choose which notes to play at specific points of a 'song'. Did this by essentially breaking a 'song' into 'segments' and 'bars', (for example Verse 3 - Bar 2).

I created a type of metronome to keep track of which segment and bar I am currently in, and this then gets matched to the appropriate notes to play them at the right time.

This is still a bit cumbersome to use, but with a (current) maximum of 99 segments per type, with 4 types of segments (Intro, Verse, Chorus, Outro), and a maximum of 99 bars per segment, you can make a pretty lengthy bit of music with enough time.
