In XING: The Land Beyond betritt man eine Zwischenwelt nach dem Tod. Ein Guardian gibt einem die Aufgabe, verlorene Seelen zu finden und zu führen. So betritt man nach und nach verschiedene Welten, angefangen mit einer idyllischen Südsee-Inselwelt.
Es handelt sich bei XING um einen Environmental Puzzler wie etwa Myst - zum Glück allerdings deutlich zugänglicher. Man beobachtet die Umgebung und rätselt sich den Weg frei.
Das Besondere an XING ist das Spiel mit den Elementen. Sei es Tag/Nacht, Eis/Feuer usw., mit diesen Umgebungsparametern muss man korrekt hantieren.
Das Ganze sieht dabei noch wunderschön aus.
